Die USA erkennen den libyschen Rebellenrat als legitime Vertretung des nordafrikanischen Landes an. Das gab US-Außenministerin Hillary Clinton am Freitag in Istanbul bekannt. Dies gelte, bis eine Übergangsregierung stehe.

Hillary Clinton¹:

I am announcing today that, until an interim authority is in place, the United States will recognize the TNC as the legitimate governing authority for Libya, and we will deal with it on that basis

“TNC” steht für “Transitional National Council”. Gemeint ist der nationale Übergangsrat der Rebellen.
